How to Fix an Itchy or Oily Scalp
Scalp issues can often be the most persistent problems that plague us. Whether you have a dry, flaky scalp or one that produces way too much oil for your liking, its no picnic! Not only does it cause discomfort but it doesn't make our hair look so fantastic either.
Well, be plagued no more!
Moroccanoil, the brand you know and love, has two treatments to help you keep that scalp under control.
Dry scalp can be caused by a number of reasons. Whether it is a genetic issue, stress, hormones, or harsh shampoos, dry scalp is the result of the lack of natural oils on the scalp. When the skin of the scalp lacks those natural oils to moisturize it, bacteria or other harmful substances can cause patches of inflammation which leads to that uncomfortable redness and itch.
The Dry Scalp Treatment contains the anti-oxidant rich argan oil as well as lavender and geranium oils. This formula penetrates deeply to sooth irritation and moisturize your scalp. Not only does it relieve the frustrating itch but it also reduces flakiness! The increased blood circulation helps your hair (and scalp!) get the nutrients it needs to be shiny and revitalized.
The cause of oily scalp is pretty much the opposite of dry scalp. Rather than the underproduction of sebum, the scalp's natural oil, the oily scalp sufferer has far too much sebum production! This can also be caused by a number of factors including hormones, genetics, and the environment. Sebum is produced at the hair follicle, the base of your hair shaft deep inside your scalp, through the sebaceous gland.
The Oily Scalp Treatment also contains our beloved argan oil, but this formula features ginger oil as well. Together, these oils reduce inflammation at the hair follicle to prevent the over production of sebum. This allows your hair to regain body and movement as the roots are no longer oily and weighed down.
Both of these treatments are applied in the same way. You start with separating your hair into four equal sections. Apply 3 to 6 drops of the treatment roughly every 2 inches and massage your scalp gently. After leaving it on for roughly 10 minutes, rinse your treatment out and wash and condition your hair. Start using your treatment once a week and as your scalp begins to become more balanced, you can reduce the frequency of use.
